When I'm looking for something inexpensive to carry, Target always seems to come up with something. Ok, A) Who the H&!! is Gerard Darel? And B) Where the H&!! has he been all my life!? The Leather Flap Satchel shown here in brown, has buckled shoulder straps and an awesome drawstring top with a front flap. Also featuring a front zip pocket, the satchel from Gerard Darel measures 12 x 21 x 5 inches (note to self, that's a big, freaking bag!), sells for $635 and also comes in black.
Gryson Seamed Satchel
Joy Gryson, a former Marc Jacobs design director, has ventured out on her own to bring us this delightful new line of handbags simply called Gryson. All of the bags in the line are absolutely to die for, although my favorite so far is the Seamed Satchel ($825) due to its extraordinary choice in accents such as the brass hardware and trigger lock. The online store also has all of the other five bags from the collection in stock in prices ranging from $695 for the Medium Leather Shoulder Bag to $995 for the Pocket Shoulder Bag (which has the definite look and feel of an upcoming "It" bag -- gonna make my Fall list for sure). From the looks of this collection, Gryson is off to a great start.

American Eagle Linen Satchel
To me, there’s nothing like a nice, cheap AE bag to bring me back to reality after what seams like weeks of covering over-priced, over-exaggerated, and over-all unattainable handbags here on Purseuing. The American Eagle Linen Satchel is an adorable (and affordable I might add) cotton/linen blend bag that comes in both sandy shore (light khaki shown right) as well as bark (a darker brown), and has a long leather strap for easy carrying either over the shoulder or across the chest. The bag, which measures 16 x 13 inches, is lined in printed cotton and sells for $29. There's also a pretty cute little pink wallet available to match for $12. You can't beat that with a stick.

Be & D Studded Satchel...in pink!
I've always had a thing for this bag, and now, since they've decided to make it pink, what I used to consider a little thing has suddenly turned into a much bigger thing! Adding a little extra pizzazz to the already glitzy appearance of the Studded Satchel, Be & D is really pouring on the glamour with it's new washed rose leather exterior. The bag also features cognac pebble-grain trim along with the usual square buckles and ID tag. In stock now at Neiman Marcus, the pink beauty sells for $895.

My God, I like this bag! Cole Haan is quickly making their way up on my list of favorite designers these days with bags like this, the Leather Tassel Satchel in dark brown. From the Sierra Collection, the satchel has antiqued brass hardware, gorgeous woven leather trim and is detailed in drawstring gussets and tassels. Measuring a large 10.5 x 16 x .5 inches, the bag closes with an extended top strap and buckle. Neiman Marcus calls it "Riveting—a luxurious, limited-edition velvet satchel with eye-catching hardware" and we at Purseuing (wait a minute... it's just me, isn't it?) happily agree. I know I say this sort of thing at least once a week, but I'm in love with this bag! Made of smooth, olive leather and brown trim, the Jennifer Pocket Satchel from Henry Beguelin is accented with golden hardware and stitched with cream threads. The bag has two flap pockets on the front and if you look really close between the pockets, you'll see a unique, hand-stitched stick figure. Coach Python Small Pocket Satchel
Apparently Coach was tired of being left out of the "ridiculously-expensive-handbag-designer" category and has decided to do something about it! At $1,900 (which gave heart attacks to Coach fans worldwide), the Python Small Pocket Satchel is made of blue python skin and leather trim. Other features of the bag include front and side turn lock closure pockets, an outside zip pouch and imported silk lining. I don't know about you guys, but my two thousand dollar, blue, reptile-skin handbag fund is unfortunately already overspent for this year. Tragic, but true.

I saw this bag in person last weekend at the local AE and absolutely loved it! The Velvet Satchel is perfect for casual carrying with its 13 x 13 x 4 inch size and simple shape, yet shows some definite class with its soft velvet structure and brass detail. Featuring roomy interior pockets and print lining, the Velvet Satchel is made of 100 percent cotton and comes in olive, teal and red. AE sells it for $34.50.
Kenneth Cole Hole Hearted Satchel
In beautiful pewter metallic leather, Kenneth Cole's Hole Hearted Satchel is a large, slouchy bag with double round handles. The bag features antique gold tone hardware, protective bottom feet and closes with a magnetic snap. Cole Haan Small Zip Satchel
You cannot possibly consider yourself a handbag-enthusiast and not love this Small Zip Satchel from Cole Haan. As with all bags in the Stephanie Suede collection, the Small Satchel has a super-smooth suede exterior with pebble grain leather trim and scores a few bonus points for functionality with it's three-compartment design. The front pocket features gold, signature hardware and the interior sports a nylon lining. The Small Zip Satchel from Cole Haan is offered in milkshake (shown), hot chocolate, burnt orange and navy. It carries a $175 price tag.
Coach Soho Leather Framed Satchel
So I went shopping this weekend (big shocker) and when I walked by the Coach store there was like this bright light that sort of drew me in like a magnet. The Soho Leather Framed Satchel features a large enamel buckle on the front and a rhinestone detailed velvet ribbon. In beautiful lightweight leather, the Bordeaux satchel has a decorative single hand-held strap and measures 8 x 6 x 4 inches and I want one horribly bad. Coach's Soho Leather Framed Satchel sells for $398 and also comes in black and white.
Kate Spade's Fulham Annemarie
I'm never disappointed when Kate Spade announces new handbags and today's no exception to the rule. The Fulham Annemarie bag is a boxy satchel named after Fulham road, which largely contributed in the 1960's to London's fashion uprising. The bag features glazed patent calfskin with cowhide trim, and the signature larabee dot lining. The Fulham Annemarie from Kate Spade measures 5 x 8 x 3 inches and sells for $275.
Dolce & Gabbana Superstar Small Satchel
After yesterday's rant about bunny-killing, let's get back to some good ol' slaughtering of reptiles, something we all seem to swallow easier. Dolce & Gabbana's Superstar Small Satchel is made of karung snakeskin and has beautiful gold hardware. Much of the bag utilizes the sleek look of karung such as the straps, the trim on the flap closure and even the gold-colored corner pieces of the bag. Dolce & Gabbana included metal feet on the bottom of the Superstar Satchel and they sell the bag for $1425. I'll admit, this purse is pretty swanky and you really area superstar if you can afford to carry it. (And when I say "superstar" what I really mean is "rich".) As for me personally, it's a little pricey for my taste. (And when I say "pricey" what I really mean is "I can’t afford it".)

New at Zappos, the Atomic Satchel from Guess is a brilliant mid-sized handbag fashioned with a twill, nylon materiel and metallic trim. The dual, rounded handles give the bag a framed structure while the body of the satchel remains light and slouchy. The Guess Atomic Satchel's logo-engraved hardware shines in stunning silver making this bag easy to convert from daytime to night-out wear without hesitation. The $80 purse measures 11 x 4 x 11 inches and also comes in black, milk and sand.
Fendi Fall Preview: Zip Satchel
Neiman Marcus has announced new fall preview handbags from designers such as Chloe, Dolce & Gabbana, Marc Jacobs and Bottega Veneta. Also named were some much- awaited, new Fendi bags including this gorgeous Zip Satchel in tan lambskin. The purse is accented with three golden signature Fendi buckles, including the one covering the extended tab closure. Double straps with inverted gussets finish off the bag and you can preorder the Fendi Zip Satchel for $1030. Neiman Marcus is expected to ship the bag on 10/7/2005.
Kate Spade's Berkley Small Wynn
Kate Spade's new summer 2005 handbags are to include this gorgeous Berkley Small Wynn made of cotton canvas and leather. The zip-top Wynn is a three-compartment satchel that contains dual hand-held straps for a fun and attractive shape. Liz Claiborne has updated an already cute summer bag, adding some new sporty details, including striped trim and faux leather highlights. Measuring 13 x 4 x 7 inches, the On The Go Satchel is made of 100 percent polyester and sells for $60 on Liz Claiborne's website. This bag reminds me that summer is just around the corner and I don't know about you, but I'm sooo ready.

You know, I thought I was finally over the whole spring metallic fad but after seeing Burberry's Gold Metallic Leather Satchel, I realize that I'm not. Of all the metallic handbags I’ve witnessed this season, this one proudly sits at the top of the list, laughing at all the others for falling a bit short. The leather logo plate labels the beautiful bag with the esteemed "Burberry" name and is set in place with grommets. Dual shoulder straps are decorated with golden rings. The large satchel is 7 x 12 x 4 inches, and sells for $495. Yeah, I'm so not over it.

Christian Dior's new Detective bag is one of the new "it" purses of the season. The frame-shaped bag features a velvety smooth leather exterior with detailed topstitching and zip closure. Inside the purse is a satin-finished tan and white flower lining. I think what does it for me are the two snap pockets on the front with the dangling "C" and "D". And no ladies, that does not stand for "Card" "Declined", although at $1,650, the price of this bag might make you rethink your purchases for the rest of the month. In black, the Detective Bag makes me want to do some investigating to see if I can sell something to buy it.
Juicy Couture Leather Satchel
The LWL Leather Satchel from Juicy Couture is crafted with smooth leather and accented with gold links and a "J" heart charm that dangles from the handle. On the inside, the pockets read "Shop!" "Hello?" and "Juicy Kiss!". The canvas interior is stamped with the Juicy Couture logo and there's a mirror attached by a cord that reads "I am the fairest." Personally, I think there is a little too much reading involved with this bag but I find it charming despite how it makes my brain hurt. At $350, the satchel measures 15 x 6.5 x 11.5 inches.
Rafe New York Tuileries Pauline Bag
This medium satchel from Rafe New York in signature rose print canvas is an absolute must have for spring. The bag has a zip-top closure, striped webbing straps that are rounded at the handles and antique brass engraved hardware. Inside the bag, there's a place for your cell phone and a pocket for a PDA or iPod. The satchel from Rafe New York measures 13 x 5 x 8.5 inches and is on sale now for $148. Now don't get me wrong, I love this bag, but there’s just something about it that screams "Bowling Bag" to me. However, after thinking about it long and hard I decided I'm okay with that.
Kate Spade Bexley Maddox
Is it legal to marry a handbag? If it were, I would sooo be willing to spend the rest of my life with this bag and forget all about men and children and such. Just me and my Bexley Maddox from Kate Spade in ocean green. I'm pretty much in love with this satchel. All the bags in the Bexley line are made of textured, tumbled leather and have light gold pyramid-shaped turnlocks. The Maddox satchel has dual shoulder straps, an interior zip pocket and a double slide pocket. The beautiful bag is lined with the new signature larabee dot pattern and sells for $475. I'll have to double check about that whole marrying-a-handbag business. I'll get back to you.
Also, consider getting one of the matching wallets from the Bexley collection since you and your purse won't be able to have babies and all.

Expensive designer purses are like men. When you find the one you want, you will pass on a lot of other cool stuff to get it. The $328 Coach Mini Signature Flap Satchel is "the one" for me, and I plan on buying it even if I have to pass on other cool things such as food and shelter to get it. The bag is made of the Mini Signature jacquard fabric with suede trim and fabric lining. The inside of the satchel has a pocket for a cell phone and the nickel feet protect the bag from getting scratched. I personally like the white with brown accents shown to the right, but the Flap Satchel also comes in pink, khaki, black and turquoise.
Gap Pinstripe Satchel
You can always count on Gap to offer cute purses at reasonable prices. After looking at hundreds of $200+ bags every day, it's like a breath of fresh air to see the Pinstripe Satchel. It's made of cotton twill and comes in neutral stripe and grey stripe. The main compartment has a zipper closure and it comes with front button pockets. The satchel is pretty large at 14 x 10 x 3 inches and is on sale for $30. You might also like the Pinstripe Mini Hobo and the Pinstripe tote.
Dooney & Bourke New Tapestry Collection
Dooney and Bourke is now offering 11 new bags as part of its new Tapestry Collection. Most of the bags are the same styles that we're used to seeing from Dooney such as bucket bags, satchels and totes, but now with the new tapestry materiel. Each bag comes in nine different colors including mint, lavender and light blue. Shown to the right is the Small Soft Satchel in sunflower, my personal fav. The prices on the Tapestry Collection range from $135 to $195 depending on style.
Logo Gator Satchel by Guess
Does anyone know what the heck happened to Guess in the last five years? This is the first bag that I have liked from them in a long time. This purse has satchel straps, buckles, metal ring accents, and is made of pink shiny mock-crock materiel. What more could we ask for? Plus it is reasonably priced at $70. Purse measures 14 x 7 x 4 inches.
