Renee Davide Handbags

renee-bag.jpgSo I've been talking with Renee LaTulippe from Renee Davide Handbags over the past few days not only about their beautiful 2006 Signature Collection, but also about the interesting way their company got its start.

Renee started Renee Davide Handbags with Dave (brother/artist/New Yorker) in early 2005 with the hopes of "bringing something new to the market that breaks away from all the trends, and stands on its own as a unique bit of functional art." Renee, who calls herself a handbag freak and entrepreneur (much like myself only less entrepreneur, more freak), takes care of sales and marketing, while Dave does most of the designing and production work. Together they are responsible for a gorgeous line of bags that Renee claims are made especially for women with "flair, who are drawn to classic and graceful shapes but aren't afraid to add some drama to their everyday wardrobes".

renee-wristlet.jpgThe Spring/Summer line is geared towards vacation and resort wear with its abundance of color, art and to put it plainly -- its overall fun. Renee says to be on the lookout this Fall when the line will likely take a turn towards fresh classic shapes, a richer color span and the obvious addition to the family -- the City Tote.

Standout bags from the new collection for me personally include the Signature Satchel in lime and the Catsanova Wristlet (C'mon, pink with kitties? You can't possibly go wrong). Both bags feature embroidered European linen, polished Italian leather, and sell for $525 and $195, respectively.
